How much does a private ADHD assessment cost?

Our adult ADHD assessment costs £595, paid when you book. Here's exactly what that pays for, what it doesn't, and how to compare it with other options.

Not includedPrescribing

We don't prescribe ADHD medication. Your report can support a conversation with your GP or a prescribing service.

What the £595 includes

  • Online pre-assessment questionnaires, including one for someone who knew you as a child
  • A QbCheck computer test of attention and activity (at our clinic, or at home if your assessment is online)
  • A clinical interview with a specialist clinician, looking at your life now and your childhood
  • Consideration of other conditions that can look like ADHD or happen alongside it
  • A clear diagnostic decision, explained to you in plain language
  • A written report with recommendations, and a GP letter where clinically appropriate

The full details are in clause 10 of our Terms and Conditions. See how each step works.

What isn't included

  • Medication and titration. We don't prescribe. If medication might help, we can point you to an appropriate prescribing service.
  • Extra letters. Bespoke letters, for example for benefits, an employer or a university, may cost extra. We'll always tell you the price before doing the work.
  • Extra appointments. Occasionally a clinician needs more information or another appointment. If that falls outside your assessment, we'll tell you about any cost first.

Is there a cheaper or free option?

Yes. You can ask your GP about an NHS ADHD assessment, which is free. Waiting times vary a lot between areas. In England, you may also be able to choose which NHS-funded provider assesses you, known as Right to Choose. Your GP can tell you what's available locally.

Some people go private because they'd like to be seen sooner, or want to choose who assesses them. Either way, a good assessment should follow the national guideline for ADHD, NICE NG87. The NHS has more about how ADHD is diagnosed.

What to check when comparing prices

Prices for private ADHD assessments vary a lot, so it's worth comparing what you get as well as the fee. Questions to ask any provider:

  1. Does the assessment follow NICE guideline NG87, with a full clinical interview rather than just a questionnaire?
  2. Who carries out the assessment, and what are their qualifications?
  3. Is a written report included, and how long does it usually take?
  4. Are medication and follow-up included, or charged separately?
  5. Will your GP accept the report for shared care? Ask your GP practice first, as it's their decision.

Payment is for the assessment and a clinician's professional opinion. No honest provider can guarantee a diagnosis, and neither can we.
