Is an online ADHD assessment as good as one in person?

Yes. The process is exactly the same either way: the same questionnaires, the same QbCheck test and the same clinical interview with a specialist clinician. The only difference is where you sit. Many people find it easier to talk openly from home, without travel or a waiting room.

Your assessment follows the national guideline for ADHD in England, NICE NG87. That means a full clinical assessment that looks at your life now and when you were growing up, not just a checklist. Read more about our assessments.

How the online assessment works

  1. Book and pay online in about 5 minutes
  2. Questionnaires online, in your own timeMost people take 30 to 40 minutes in total, with breaks whenever you like
  3. QbCheck at home, a 15 to 20 minute computer testWe email your link and instructions separately
  4. Clinical interview by secure video with a specialist clinician
  5. Your outcome and written report

What you'll need

  • a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam (for QbCheck)
  • a stable internet connection
  • a quiet, private space for your interview

We'll email your video link with your booking confirmation. If anything about the technology worries you, get in touch and we'll talk it through.

Who it's for

Our online assessment is for adults aged 18 and over, anywhere in the UK. We don't currently assess children or young people.

Not sure yet whether it could be ADHD? Try our free 2-minute self-check first. It can't diagnose ADHD, but it can help you decide whether an assessment is worth it.

After your assessment

You'll get a written report with our clinician's conclusions and recommendations. We don't prescribe medication, but your report can support a conversation with your GP or a prescribing service. Whether your GP agrees to prescribe under shared care is up to your GP practice, so it's worth asking them first. Read about medication after a private diagnosis.

If you'd like support putting strategies in place, our STILL Method coaching also runs online.

Prefer to meet in person?

You can have exactly the same assessment at our clinic in Hull: Innovations in Care, 20–22 Chamberlain Road, Hull HU8 8HP. Clients come to us from Hull and across East Yorkshire.
